Fault code

I have a 1996 BMW 740il E-38 M-60 Vin. DL39628 Mi. 130K. I keep gettig a fault code 1174 7 1175 ? THE CODE SAID THAT fUEL TRIM ADAPTATION INACTIVE BANKS 1&2 MALFUNCTION? THE CAR SEEMS TO RUN FINE, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THIS CODE MEANS OR WHAT TO CHECK? THE ONLY THING THAT WAS DONE TO THE CAR OTHER THAN REG. Mant. is a part on the back of the intake manif. was replaced about 30K mi. ago. It had something to do with oil separation as the car was smoking at the time and that fixed it. Now I do not know on this new problem can you help?

There is a bulletin regarding this from BMW. It will most likely require a software update. This upgrade can be performed with the factory programming unit called the GT-1 and may be available at either the dealer or an independent with the GT-1.
