I have a loud taping noise coming from the lower part of the engine. My local mechanic says it's the glide for the timing chain. How hard would it be for me to do the replacement?

This is "A" level work, the book shows about 15 hours to replace the cam chain/cam chain tensioner/cam chain guides and requires special tools that cost several hundred dollars, are you sure you want to attempt this repair?
