Hello,

The front brakes completely lock up when car is driven about a mile. Started two months ago. Brake warning light came on. Continued to drive for about another week. One Saturday morning, the brakes locked up sitting at a traffic light. Brakes didn't release for about 15 minutes. Happened again about 7 days later. Almost same scenario.

Drove car to bmw dealership for service. They stated that I had the wrong size tires and needed a sensor for the brake system. I purchased new tires and the needed sensor.

About 4 days later the brake warning light came back on. I took the car back in. The sensor was adjusted. Light went back off.

Another 4 days later the brakes locked up again about 2 miles from my house. Waited about 30 minutes and the brakes released. I immediately drove it back to the service center. I was told that a second sensor was needed. They installed at no cost.

Car was driven perfectly fine for about 3 days. On the 4th day the brakes locked up again after driving a mile. Car was towed back to service center where it now sits.

Any idea of the problem?

Critz BMW Service Center in Savannah, GA is stumped. Spoke with the Head Service Manager today. They have never seen this occur and not sure of the problem.

Car is still there untill they can figure it out.

Replace the mastercylder and tell them you want your money back for the previous repairs. There was a bulliten that came back in the day that touched on this problem and that was the cure. Did the repair my self at dealership for that symptom.
