1998 BMW 740 Stalling

I was driving at around 35 mph when the car suddenly appeared to loose power.
It was still running fine, but will not go over 7 mph. It still has everything there in reverse though.
I heard it might be the ECM orTHU?
Any thoughts?

Can you have the car scanned for the fault and report back?
