1994 BMW 740 Interior door handle driiver's door

I cannot open the driver's side front door from the inside. The spring is good because the handle pops back, but pulling on the handle from the inside does nothing. It works fine from the outside. Is there a pin or something which can be accessed without tearing the entire door panel off?

The door latch may require replacement and if so the door panel will need to come off.
