I have been having a coolant smell around my block for a while. The smell is particularly strong right at the center of the block, near the throttle body. Ideas?

The valley pan will require replacement and you should renew the PCV plate while you are in there along with the intake manifold gaskets and the rear coolant manifold gaskets. This is about a 6 hour job for me, give yourself twice that amount if you wish to take it on yourself.
