The engine fail safe mode keeps coming on. A diagnosis was done and it was believed to have been a bad alternator. A new battery and alternator were put on the vehicle. The battery light and engine fail safe mode keeps coming on. Car shuts off.

It might be something else besides the alternator. The scan might have been inconclusive, what method was used to extract the fault?
