1994 BMW 540i defoger & air conditioner belt

1994 BMW 540i V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a belt connected to the fan but not the air conditioner and when i turn on the defogger, I get hot air, seems like from the engine, can you tell me the problem.

What you have described seems like normal operation to me.
