BMW might fix it for free, they refer to this as goodwill. If you have been a good customer, they will. If not then it is a repairable issue, but it requires some special tools. First, you will need to know where the the fault is and what it is, for that you will need scanning equipment, either the generic OBDII type or the proprietary software that BMW and Baum and Autologic use. First is to know what is the fault and then after it is corrected to erase the fault so the light is off.
