Hi

I have 2003 BMW 530i (E39). Over the past I noticed that my brake lights would go out sporadically. I would take the bulb and socket out, re-adjust and it worked again. Recently, however, all of my brake lights went out and replacing the bulbs didn't help. I took it to a mechanic who suggested a new brake light switch, which hasn't worked either.

Any ideas on what could be causing the issue?

The problem might be after market parts. I had a bad run of brake light switches, even a brand new switch would not do anything. That system is usually bad bulbs or a bad switch, other than that, it is quite robust and little else goes wrong. If the switch is not the culprit, the general module is where the relay is for the brake lights, first, try another switch and test its operation before you click it into place, then we can go into the next thing, OK � � �
