It sounds like you may have two distinct issues here. The first one may be a dead battery, check the age of the battery and if more than 5 years old, you may need a replacement. Also check the voltage at the battery when the car is running, it should be about 13.8 volts at idle with no loads on. The second is the SES light, it may be on for an emissions related issue or it is on because of the battery issue, a scan of the car with a generic OBDII scanning device should tell why the lamp is lit and appropriate action can then be taken.
