1995 BMW 530i V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have been trying to pull the blink codes by using the On-board, but every time i try to do so by pushing the accelerator pedal 5 times in 5 seconds like the book says to do it will not pull any codes.

Yes the check engine light does work. It keeps popping up if I'm at idle under 1K RPMs but once I get over 1K RPMs it goes off.
