Recently my ac was working fine, but now just blows air and not cold even though I lower tempereture.
All belts are running and wondered if it needs freeon recharging?
If it is can I do it myself?

In addition to my question I also want to add that there is a check engine light that comes on every now & then. Could this be related ac problem?

You can do it yourself by using the R-134a canister w/gauge

Probably not. The fact that the system is low means there is a leak. The leak detection and recharging equipment is quite expensive. Overcharging is dangerous and possible if you just add refrigerant without knowing what is in the system. I would take this into consideration. ♥

To add on top off Doc on this

The fact that the system is low means there is a leak. You'll be also losing the PAG oil and can cause the compressor to lock-up

You need a manifold gauges to read the high and low pressures
