Noises problem
1999 BMW 528 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 127000 miles
WHEN DRIVING AND REVERSING SLOWLY ON THE ACCELARATOR, THERE ARE NOISES. I THINK IT MAY BE THE THROTTLE. IS THIS CORRECT AND HOW WOULD I FIX THIS PROBLEM.

I think you have a cyclone separator failing, this may be a bit too much for an occasional mechanic to attempt, I recommend seeking a knowledgeable BMW trained technician to perform this repair.

Car has been checked out. The bmw spealist reckons it is the module. My husband thinks it may be the valve. Any ideas what I should go with. Also does this need to be fixed or is it an unnecessary expense.

What module was recommended? Did the tech state what this module does? And yes, you could certainly ignore this repair, however the noise that you are concerned about will still be there, and it is a distraction to say the least.

What was the diagnostic path taken to arrive at the conclusion they did? Were there fault codes and bulletins followed or was it driven by something else? I just don't feel like I have a clear picture of what is really going on here, so it is difficult to give an opinion based on solid facts, and I dislike diagnosing in the dark.
