Recently, while driving my BMW on occasion the "D" on the dash readout will disappear while in drive, same with the "R" & "P". I notice the transmission slipping during this time, too. When shifting to 1st and 3rd I get "S 1" on both. Sometime the dash will show nothing while I shift through all gears. What am I looking at?

Thank you

I took the 528i in to repair and found the problem to be a faulty "transmission range switch", a $600 repair. Very happy it was not a bad transmission.

The TRS works between the transmission and dash board and also assists the trans to work properly.
