the temp guage reads hot but the car does not seem to be over heating and is not leecking any coolant and is not smocking or making any type of noises?

I believe there are several possible issues. The instrument cluster is telling you incorrect information. The temperature sending unit or related wiring is compromised. Does the temp gauge go to red all the time?
