My car message is telling me I need to add oil, but the oil chamber is full. Now very little oil is showing up on the dip stick.

The engine oil is added through the cap with the oil can icon that is on top of the motor. Also, 2005 525 BMW did not have a dipstick, so you are looking at power steering fluid reservoir.
