2004 BMW 525i Two Wheel Drive Automatic 52,000 miles

I bought a used 2004 BMW 525i from a quality dealer yesterday and on the way home the car just stopped and the computer said ignition failure pleas contact your local bmw dealer? what the heck do I do? is it a serious problem andwhy did it happen out of the blue with no warning?
