Electrical problem
2002 BMW 525i 6 cyl Automatic 67000 miles

I have a BMW 528I, haven't had any problems with the factory installed alarm until recently. Lately the alarm goes off for no reason, how do I reset or disable the alarm so that it doens't keep doing this? What is a short term fix until I can take it into the shop? Thanks!

The alarm is reacting to is the hood switch. It is possible to remove the switch from its holder and whilst it is still connected to the wiring plug, pull up on the plunger and and this will imitate a closed hood condition. See if your alarm issue goes away and if so the switch can be left to do nothing or you can try to get it to recognize the closed hood, I have had to replace the filter housings on several cars like yours to correct this issue.
