I own a 1990 BMW 525i. During the summer I was driving another car so the BMW sat all summer. As you could guess, the battery went dead. Because the battery went dead the power door locks will not work and I can not get into the car to unlatch the hood and put in a new battery. I have tried manually unlocking the car by using the key and holding the door handle but I am either doing it wrong or it doesn't work at all. Any suggestions? I have to give the other car back that I've been using all summer and I need to get mine going so I can get around. So.
How do I manually unlock the driver side door when the battery is dead?
P.S. Celinoid (sorry about the spelling) on passenger side is burned out so power lock will not work.

If you try the "lift the handle" method on the passenger door and it does not work, there is little to do except for not leaving the car in central arrest or replace the door lock assembly.
