I bought the car used - only owned it for a few months. Twice this weekend, the car stalled in the middle of the road for no reason. All electrical systems fail and I can't restart the car or even light my hazards. The first time it happened was when I broke hard to avoid a car that cut in front of me. The second time, there was no incident, it just died. The car behaves as if the battery is dead and won't turn over at all. I manipulate the battery post cable slightly and this lets me restart the car each time.

What might be going on?

The car might need an inspection by a trained BMW pro to correct these issues. The idle control is suspect here, the ICV might need cleaning too.
