BMW rear axle

Hi, I have just purchased a nice 525 TDS which has it`s diff dragging on the floor-has anyone come across this before and is it easy to repair ? What should I do to prevent a recurrence please ? Many thanks -John

is the differential really dragging?
this could be a safety issue and I think you need a second opinion from a knowledgeable BMW tech
that can actually look at the car with you.
it is practically impossible for me to do much more from
where I sit.
