The gear shift is becoming difficult to put in park on my 2004 BMW 525i. There is a funny clicking noise and then it is a bit iof a struggle to put in park. That happen a few days and now, the key will not come out unless you slam it into park. Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

The shift interlock cable is loose and needs to be tightened at the steering column or the ignition lock assembly is worn and requires replacement.
