1997 BMW 523 wont start

The car wont start....when I look at the gear shift lever lights, it's stuck in drive but the vehicle is in park. It's an automatic tranny. Is it possible that the neutral sfety switch is damaged?

It is highly possible the neutral safety switch is faulty. I dont have a wiring diagram handy but if you can source the switch and plug it in to try it and it starts, then there you go mate ♥
