2002 BMW 330 Automatic

We've had the clutches in the gearbox replaced, after the car just wouldn't change gears and was towed to the workshop. This was 4 months ago. The car still isn't fixed, the mechanic doesn't know what's wrong with it, it only stays in one gear and won't change between 1 and 3, it shuddered in the beginning after going over 100km, and now it just won't drive. What could be the problem, what is the mechanic missing, or doing wrong. We've paid over R15000 and still nothing, we don't have the money to send it to another workshop. Please help!!!!!!
