recently purchast it and smell around engine

i think its more like oil or grease but there is no smoke and the engine is really hot it self (no worning or lite lights). i dont know if that is normal with BMWs. However, it looks and runs great. i dont have any complains. iit is very cleane and kept in good condition. i have inspection papers that shows, what was done and everything is apporved and checked.

Hi there,

Just check around the exhaust for a sign of anything burning, and look up underneath as you may have an old plastic bag melted on to the exhaust, these will smell when they melt, check this out.

If it's been cleaned then then cleaning agents will smell a bit when the engine is hot. Also look at the valve cover gasket and see if it is seeping.
