Recently engine overheated and reserve bottle cracked from the pressure. Could this be a faulty thermastate. I have replaced the reserve bottle but before I drive the car could you please advise where the thermastate is and how do I go about changing it.

You may have a more serious issue than just overheating. There are several special tools required, do you have a place to work on the car.
