The time table that BMW uses for warranty replacement of an automatic transmission is 7.5 hours. This may vary slightly from shop to shop and my experience is that is really only takes about 5 hours if everything is at hand and ready to go, it may require more time if the shop does not have a lot of experience with BMW. What was your quote?

They are a long time trans shop. And are experienced with bmw's. The trans was slipping. They wanted 5hrs to remove and pull the tranny apart to diagnose (RDI). 3rd gear slipping. (To expensive to rebuild 3k). And 6hrs to replace a salvage trans at $75hr. So 11hrs for removal teardown and replace a salvage. At first 11hrs sounded high, but if your guess is about 7.5 for r&r without teardown, 11hrs with a teardown might not be that bad. Thx Doc.

I think I would still negotiate the price with them, you might get them to knock an hour off for the installation.
