BMW won't stay running

BMW 325i, 1989, 89K 2.5 liter.
History: Replaced Timing belt, overhauled engine, replaced belts and belt pullys, replaced Mass air flow sensor.

When i start the car, it will not continue to run it cuts off, also when i try to give it gas the car also cuts off. what can cause this problem?

was the air flow meter (not mass air flow) connected and did you get the correct air flow meter?
the symptoms you describe sound like a faulty or a disconnected meter
