Engine Cooling problem
2004 BMW 325 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Recently the car overheated.I check the system out and notice there is a leak on the expansion tank. What can cause the expansion tank to leak? Is there any way to check if there i any damage to the engine?

Plastic tank, cracks when it is hot and cold several hundred times, also called thermal cycling. Damage? I dont know. Did you drive it in the red?

No luckly i made it to my destination b4 it go to the red mark.
