2004 325 xi my check engine soon light has come on. i checked my oil as soon as light appeared oil was fine but do need a oil change. i made sure the gas cap was on tight and that was fine. would the light come on if i went pass my miles for oil change? any idea why the light would come on

The check engine light is on due to an emissions related issue. The issue may be anything from a sensor failure or loose gas cap. The light does not have anything to do with the oil change. Have the fault scanned and report with the findings.
