Air Conditioning problem
2002 BMW 325 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 130K miles

Hi,

The thermostat that indicates the temperature outside (not the engine temp) was damaged when I went over some debris a few months back. Ever since then, my car reads the outside temp as 122 degrees. However, my AC has been working fine, even with these record heat waves.

Yesterday for the first time the AC did not work. I noticed the thermostat was flashing 122 degrees, as if it was initially reading the temp. I was drving to work, so I let the AC run (even though the air was not cold) and about 20 minutes into my drive I noticed the AC kicked in (and at the same time the thermostat stop flashing) and I thought it was all fixed. This morning, the AC did not go on again, as in only waarm air was coming out and the AC never kicked in, and the thermostat was flashing 122 degrees, it eventually stopped flashing but the AC didn't kick in.

Yes, the center vent dial is set correctly and up until yesterday the AC had been working fine.

Could I just need a recharge to the system? If not, what do you recommend, suggest?

Thanks,
