I have a 2002 BMW 325ci and the battery light flashed and then the car went dead. My mechanic replaced it with a BMW alternator (not rebuilt). I drove the car about 15 miles and it happened again! The mechanic replaced the alternator with another BMW part, and at 15 miles or so - it did it yet AGAIN!!! He has the car again and they just put another alternator in and he said that the battery light is back on so they're checking with some BMW mechanics that might have some info on this.

The battery is fairly new (last winter - BMW dealership replaced it). I've read the posts about getting only high quality parts - but we did that this time and we're having this problem. Any advice or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Since the DME regulates the charge rate I would take a look at the wiring and the possibility that the alternator is not the problem.
