Engine Mechanical problem
2001 BMW 325 6 cyl Automatic

I was told the red battery warning light was an alternator problem. I got the valeo alternator fixed but the warning light is still present. Does the bosch alternator need to be replaced as well? Is there a reset for the warning light?

If the red light is on then there may be a charging system issue, what is the VALEO/Bosch issue, I do not understand. If you fixed the VALEO alternator then the light ought to go out and the system should be charging.

How can we fix the charging issue? I have been driving the car for over a month with the red light intermittently on/off. Today, the battery is dead again. Any suggestions?

The charging system is controlled by the DME via bit serial data. If the charging system is inoperative, I would start with the alternator, go back to where you got it and have it tested, the warranty should still apply.

Yes, it was a faulty alternator. Now we have another situation with the coolant resevior. We are having a hard time latching the resevior the the spring and thermastat. Is there a way to feel for a secure latch so the clip will grap and hold in place?

Those connectors often take a bit of force to clip in and a dab of white grease is my preferred agent to grease the o-ring and snap them on.
