my 2001 325i has 127764 miles on it and it failed inspection this weekend. the reason they gave was a gross evaporation leak in the fuel. I asked if they tighten the gas cap, they said it would only say minimal leak if it was the gas cap. My question.. how much does it cost to have this fixed? I have had bad luck on a plethora of things this year and have $0 to spend, anywhere, I want to know if I should sell it or park it till I can fix it.

Gross leak detected usually means the fuel cap got left off. Is the check engine light on?
