I was getting a clicking noise coming from the engine. Mechanic said it was probably a lifter. Had oil service light. So he did the oil service. Clicking went away but replaced by a high pitched screeching noise. The noise would abait when the car warmed up. Temp gauge at the center line. 2 days ago when driving home from work the noise would not go away. Then all of a sudden stopped. To be replaced by a battery "warning light. (Battery less than 6 months old) and then the car started to overheat. Lost the power steering asist. Car was towed home. Will start now but battery warning light on. I am too scared to drive it anywhere.

Tow it to the repair facility to have the belt replaced and the tensioner and/or the deflection pulley inspected/replaced.
