I went to roll up my window on Sat and it started making a loud clicking noise and wouldn't roll up. The mechanic says that the regulartor is broken. He wants to change the motor as well b/c he said the motor will "eat up" the new regulator. He originally quoted me $240 but now says it will be $500. Am I getting hosed?

If your car is a coupe, then, according to realoem.com, the driver's side regulator will cost about 160 bucks retail. I don't think I spent more than two hours doing it the last time I changed one. I've never had any problems arising from reusing the motor, but maybe he has.

Good Luck.
