My car temp gauge goes hot and check engine light goes on but in a couple minutes goes back to normal I have lost some coolant ech time.

I STRONGLY recommend towing the car to a BMW pro and having the cooling system inspected. There is a possibility the failure of the cooling system could lead to a catastrophic failure that could be very $$$$$$$$
