Sporadic lifter tapping. What can I do to make it stop?

When you say sporadic, what do you mean? on start up, when its been sitting, it helps to be accurate. An attempt to diagnose a noise from where I sit (cyberspace) has limitations. Replacement of the 24 lifters in that motor will quiet it, if the lifters are what is making the noise.
