Electrical problem
1992 BMW 325 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 151000 miles

i have a 1992 325i and the altenator was bad so i changed it. i then charged my battery becuase i was dead as could be. after it was charged i put it on and it started right up. i decided to see if i was running off the battery and i pulld the positive wire off and the car shut off. what could be wrong?? or is that just what will happen??

Try this read the battery with a voltmeter before you start it -it should be 12.4volts or better-if not battery is still weak. Next start the car up and read the voltage while engine running and headlights/heater On -it should be 13.2-15.5volts not in this zone the alternator is not putting out or the battery is not taking it.
