I recently purchased a used car that I have been driving around in Germany. Almost always it runs great and I have no complaints. About a month ago during almost blizzard like conditions outside the car died while driving and was able to restart immediately. Within a couple minuets it died again and would not start. We had to wait for a friend to come jumpstart us and when I took it to the small local autoshop they ran a test on the startup / power systems and said they couldnt find any problem other then that the battery was dead and it was probably just an intermittent problem. They recharged it and it has ran fine since then until this morning, and again the weather was in the low 20s. The engine died about 4-5 seconds before the battery died and again we had to push it into a parking lot. The car would not start up again after that.

I dont know if this would have anything to do with that problem, but the car vibrates oddly while in idle. It happens every 2-3 seconds where it will go from about 500-1000 RPM, but if I touch lightly on the gas to bring it just above 1k rpm then it runs very smoothly and all abnormal vibrations stop.

There are several things to check on this vehicle, first is the battery going away because of you cranking til it stops >?You may need to put a new battery in it because of the age (4 years max), while it is cranking under no start listen for fuel pump vibrating (located in gas tank) under back seat have someone put there hand on tank while cranking and it should be vibrating, they have a problem with pumps gong bad while driving>
