1989 BMW 325 spark plugs are black after being changed

I just had an engine replaced in my bmw. and now it revs high and low by itself and jerks. The mechanic says that he took the plugs out and they were black. I don't know what the propbelm.

Too much fuel, probably a poor connection at the injector harness, look for the round connector below the throttle body down next to the engine block, inspect and report back.
