Engine Performance problem
1988 BMW 325 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

We have an e30 car being prepared to race. The gauges are from a local auto parts shop and the water temp probe doesn't match up with the existing entry point.
What ways can we access the block or radiator for installing the probe? We've seen where others have tapped a hole in the radiator and some in the block. Is there an access point already there that we can use?

Thanks,
Ron

The thermostat housing is the best place for coolant temperature readings and there should be areas in the casting that are there for (but unused on the "I" motor) gauges to be screwed in. You could also use the sensor port on the side of the radiator, if the threads are compatible. You probably wont be needing it for a racecar. (What is racecar spelled backwards?)
