I was wondering if I could change the front and rear seprately. As in do the rear for now and save the front for later when I have more time. The rear can be done in an hour. But the front seems as though it will take 4-6 hours

Yes of course you can do it that way. I wish to be be careful and say don't wait too long if the front needs the work, get er done!
