i put a new head on it how do i set the timing before i put the timing belt on

Cam timing is set by lining up the timing marks on the cam belt pulley and the mark on the cylinder head whilst the #1 cylinder is at TDC. You should be able to see them at about the 4 o`clock position at the head, just by the alignment dowel.
