2000 BMW 323 convertible roof- press button nothing happens

My conv roof is an automatic type. I press button and nothing happens - any ideas? Thanks

The stowage compartment is not in the "down" position or it has a sensor failure. Go to the trunk and pull the stowage compartment to the correct position and see if it works.
