2000 BMW 318 Manual

I tried to start my car this morning, and when i turned the key there was a loud ticking noise and the car would not start. Now nothing happens when i turn on the ignition. What could this be?

Your description is possibly a dead battery or loose battery terminals. If original, it is time for a replacement.
