My BMW has given me start problem on three occassions.. The engine fails to start after parking the car for several minutes.. It just cranks. Intially I was advised it was battery problem but after changing it, the problem did not end. When I called a specialised mechanic for BMWs, he just pulled out an air mass flow and started the engine.. This has been what I have been doing every time I face this problem but I what I want is long lasting solution... What could be the problem with my car then?? Please advise. No egine check shows on the dash board..

Pulled out, do you mean disconnected the air mass?
