Engine Mechanical problem
1998 BMW 318 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 145k miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
i recently purchased my bmw. i took it to the shop to see if anything was wrong with it mechanically, the technician came back and told me i had a fuel trim malfunction and that i need to take it to a dealer then waived the diagnostics fee. this of course makes me think this is bad. the only problem i've encountered is that my idle is a little rough but after running a couple miles everything is fine. what exactly is a fuel trim malfunction and how much is this gonna end up costing me?

Try replacing the crank case vent valve and resetting the adaptations. Part# 11-15-7-501-567
