1998 BMW 318 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

my airbag warning light is staying on /I have not hit anything can someone let me know if I can make it reset or do I have to take it to a garage?

The lamp is illuminated for a possible intermittent fault, dont freak out and think the air bag is not operational. You will need to have a code reader to determine the repairs needed, it may be the seat belt tensioners, the E36/46 body style is notorious for this.
